We met as freshmen at Howard Health and Life Sciences High School in 2008 and became friends long before either of us realized our story would eventually become something more.

Even our prom history felt like foreshadowing. Junior year we took photos side by side, and senior year we went together “as friends.” After graduation, life pulled us in different directions, but somehow we always found our way back to each other through shared memories, social media, and conversations that never really felt finished.

In 2019, a slightly late birthday message changed everything.

What followed was years of long-distance calls, weekend visits, inside jokes, constant laughter, and intentionally choosing each other through every season of life. Two years ago, we finally closed the distance and started building a home together.

Somewhere along the way, friendship became home.

D’Angelio surprised Rachel with what she thought was simply a downtown photo day.

During a few “test shots” with their photographer, he got down on one knee behind her. When Rachel turned around mid-laugh, he told her he wanted to laugh with her forever and asked her to marry him.

She said yes.

At the center of our relationship is friendship.

We love music, creativity, spontaneous adventures, staying home together, laughing entirely too hard, and finding ways to make ordinary moments memorable.

More than anything, we’ve built a relationship grounded in honesty, partnership, softness, intentionality, and choosing each other daily.
